Atlanta Jugglers Association

 

Statement of Purpose

 

The Atlanta Jugglers Association has been formed to provide an organizational framework for any persons interested in juggling and other circus arts. The Atlanta Jugglers Association will:  bring jugglers together to learn and share their knowledge and skills; serve as a clearinghouse for information about techniques, equipment and facilities; and provide the people of the Atlanta area with opportunities to be entertained by and learn about the art of juggling.

 

Article I                      Name of Organization

 

The organization shall be known by the name “Atlanta Jugglers Association.”

 

Article II                     Membership

 

A person may become a member of the Atlanta Jugglers Association if he or she has an interest in juggling and is recommended by one member.

 

Article III                   Officers

 

The following officers shall be elected from the membership:  President; Vice-President/Treasurer; Secretary. The officers shall perform their respective duties in accordance with accepted standards of parliamentary procedure.

 

Article IV                    Board of Directors

 

The Board of Directors shall consist of the elected officers plus four (4) additional directors elected by and from the membership.

 

Article V                     Elections

 

q     Section 1 – All elections of officers shall be held at the annual convention business meeting. The existing terms of office shall expire and the terms of the newly elected officers shall begin at the end of said meeting.

q     Section 2 – The elections of officers shall be determined by a majority of the ballots cast.

q     Section 3 – No person shall be entitled to vote or hold office unless he or she is a member in good standing.

 

Article VI                    Removal of Officers/Revocation of Membership

 

An officer of the organization may be removed or a member may have his or her membership revoked by a majority vote of the membership appearing at a meeting, notice of which has been sent out to the entire membership. The meeting may be called by the President or a majority of the Board of Directors.

 

Grounds for removal of revocation shall be:  conduct unbecoming a member of the A.J.A.; misuse of organization funds.

 

Such persons may have their membership reinstated by a two-thirds majority of the quorum at the next regularly scheduled meeting.

 

Article VII                  Meetings

 

The Atlanta Jugglers Association shall hold its regular meetings as designated by the Board of Directors. The quorum for such regular meetings shall be a simple majority of the membership.

 

Article VIII                 Dues

 

Each person recommended for membership shall become a member in good standing upon receipt of the annual dues as specified by the Board of Directors.

 

Article IX                    Funds

 

q     Section 1 – Solicitations of funds from any agency, public or private, for any A.J.A. project, must be submitted in writing to and approved by the Board of Directors. Any funds received from such solicitations must be used in accordance with terms of the solicitation or proposal.

q     Section 2 – Expenditure of funds pertinent to the operation and promotion of the A.J.A. shall be made at the discretion of the elected officers provided the yearly total of expenditures does not exceed 75% of the annual dues rate per capita. In such case as expenditures may exceed the limit, approval of the Board of Directors is necessary.

 

Article X                     Amendments to the By-Laws

 

All proposed amendments to the A.J.A. By-Laws shall be presented in writing to the President. The President shall publish the same to the members and at the next regular meeting the amendment may be adopted by a two-thirds vote of the members present.
